Andalusia at the forefront in terms of diagnosis and treatment of cancer, that is the intention of the Fundación Amancio Ortega to donate 40 million euros destined to the fight against cancer. With an agreement that will be launched next year 2017 – and extend until 2019-, this sum of money will result in a total of 25 linear accelerators for radiotherapy with the most advanced technology, distributed in ten community hospitals.
These devices will be more than 225,000 annual sessions. With only 31 current accelerators, this donation will replace 17 with more than 10 years old. But this amount of money will also cover more: will cover all construction work required to place.
Susana Diaz, President of the Junta de Andalucia, has declared that
It is welcome that there is a commitment to social responsibility with Andalusia by the Fundación Amancio Ortega betting on our public health system, which is a reference and a guarantee of equal opportunities. And we must protect it and invest in research, that it is going to make the system sustainable.
The contract was signed yesterday at the Palace of San Telmo, the Andalusian Government.
A foundation of greater solidarity
The Fundación Amancio Ortega stands out for its work on social projects that help those most in need each year. At the end of 2015, it was revealed that it would donate 17 million euros to equip public health Galician, as well as financing nursery schools of the Xunta.
What you think about this good deed? Perhaps 40 million sound a little in comparison to everything that comes to invoice the Inditex Empire, but the truth is that many entrepreneurs could inspire Amancio Ortega to carry out more acts of this kind and do not.
